 All that hoo-ha didn't save the beloved Tembusu Tree.

For a tree, which thrives in poor soil - what happened? I am certain, the babysitters working at the Botanic Gardens didn't just leave the tree to fend for herself.  I read that leaf-litter was spread around her often.

I am too heartbroken to see yet another 'grand ole' lady' perish.  The first time was the tree planning authorities here chopped away, for a flyover outside Bishan area.  Members of the public were mostly unsupportive, but as usual, everything else MUST GIVE WAY to urban planning.

The lesson people seldom learn is : One can plan all you want, but nature runs it's own course.
This Heritage Tembusu, can never be replaced.  I grew up running around her, way back then.
Botanic Gardens was THE park for all of us.

Urban Planners should already learn this lesson.

You can decide where Nature can thrive and where she cannot.
But that doesn't mean Nature will obey you, because Urban Living MUST GIVE WAY to Nature, since Nature came first.

The babysitters have done everything they thought they did - because this tree HAD to surpass us all in earth days.  They chose that this tree lived so others could be chopped down.

I'm too distraught to even be coherent.

How is all that similar to the USA building a wall on the US-Mexico border?  USA and Mexico are sovereign nations - with their own unique laws, which are not necessarily the same.

Is the Berlin Mayor trying to compare apples to pears?  Aside from it being FRUIT grown from trees, I don't see how they are the same.

Is it just me, a simply educated Asian woman, who cannot see the similarities of the situation?

To people who tell me, they are against the wall I say :
Would you like to be going to work, among ILLEGALS, who not only take away your jobs, but can commit heinous crimes and get away with it, if they wanted to.
It's not about being UNinclusive.  It's about LAWS of the LAND.  You want to come here to work/live/study/play, YOU APPLY FOR A VISA.  A country is as strong as it's border control.

Try coming into a country like Singapore, without a valid stamp on your passport.  We are an island, but many have tried to SWIM here, or take a cheap fishing boat before swimming here.  What did our GOVERNMENT do?  SHIP THEM ALL BACK or throw them in jail.  We don't need a wall because we are an island.  BUT that doesn't mean, SWIMMING HERE is an option.

We vote our Government because they keep us SAFE from the crazies.  I will not vote for a government who cannot maintain control of our SOVEREIGNTY.  I am sure, all Singaporeans feel the same.  We can safely go to work, send our kids to school and go home.  We are proud that we can do that and we certainly will not tolerate anything less.

I detest that politicians, who have probably been given all the 'haves' in their lives, cannot understand this basic concept? Don't tell another Nation what to do because LAWS are there to adhere to.  You have yours, we have ours.

Berlin Mayor should just spend his time, managing his area so that his people will not be killed while shopping for Christmas.

Meryl Streep - what a disappointment!  In my humble opinion, she may be a brilliant actress, but a very non-discerning person.  I suppose, it doesn't take BRAINS to win accolades, correct?  Isn't it about WHO you know? WHO you rub shoulders with? AND whether you were at the right place at the right time?

Does she even know what the term BULLY means?

The 'DEMOCRAT LOVERS' who were funding the election bullied non-supporters.  Bullied because they went onto the streets, kicked up a fuss like a toddler, man-handled innocent members of public just because they didn't support the same candidate.
Hello Streep - that isn't bully in your book.  It's exercising their right, correct? That's what you would say that Americans have their *#* Amendment.

So how is it different for the US President Elect Trump who may have said a lot like any other 'normal' man - they have locker room talk, they have their guy thing going on.

Tell me STREEP, did your husband, or male friends NEVER EVER said something in jest, without meaning real harm to another?  Lighten up.  Even between multi-ethnic friends, we joke about race and colour and the stigma associated with each race WITHOUT feeling as if we are BULLYING each other.  It's just talk.

I guess that's why I never bothered about drama.  I rather know who I am, than pretend to be someone I'm not.

Just because you won an award, which to you is so important, because it stands for all your life, doesn't give you the right to insult another.  You should be gracious and SET AN EXAMPLE.

I watched the movie OUT OF AFRICA from way back then - so I'm no kid who's writing this.

Please spend all that free time you have, since you don't really need to work, like the rest of us, and do some RESEARCH.  Read everything the CLINTON FOUNDATION/OBAMA ADMINISTRATION has done for the America.
USE YOUR INTELLECT in LOGIC AND MORAL CONDUCT - THINK ABOUT BENGHAZI and compare all the reports about it from BOTH SIDES.

Aunty - I was ok with your acting - but after the US Election year - I only watch Korean/Japanese/Hindi/Tamil Drama.  I stopped reading anything that CNN releases and removed their application from my phone.
